Our Stories Will Save Us
I am a writer, teacher, rabble-rouser, therapist-in-training and creative mystic. The connection between creativity, introspection and illumination has been central to both my teaching and writing throughout my career. My work is equal parts telling stories, asking big questions, examining seemingly small moments and creating space for others to do the same. When we courageously take hold of our own narrative and find the words to share our own true story, we begin to walk the path to healing. From elementary school students to cancer patients, unhoused adults to first generation college students, I’ve supported clients to harness their own stories.
Creating is an innately human act. I believe that by nourishing and nurturing our relationship to creating we can be better humans. When we are better humans, the whole world benefits. The process of creating helps us tap into our body’s wisdom. I help people make space to express themselves and travel a healing path.
In addition to my work with Bewonderment, I also am a therapist-in-training working under the supervision of Kelly Evans at Down to Earth Therapy, a writer and intuitive coach. I’ve served two terms as Writer-in-Residence at Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts and am on the Board of Directors for the East Central Regional Arts Council. I am the recipient of a 2020 Creative Support For Individuals Minnesota State Arts Board grant to support my research and writing on the topic of creativity and wellness, as well as a 2021 grantee from the East Central Regional Arts Council.
